MTG Introduces UHD Channel in the Nordics

STOCKHOLM: Modern Times Group (MTG) is launching Viasat Ultra HD this fall, marking the Nordic region’s first-ever TV channel with Ultra HD/4K content.

MTG has partnered with satellite operator SES and Samsung to introduce the new channel, which will broadcast via satellite in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. Viasat Ultra HD will feature selected live sport events from the UEFA Champions League and other MTG sports rights, produced in Ultra HD.

Bartek Gudowski, chief technology officer of MTG Broadcasting, commented: “It’s great that real Ultra HD content now is being produced and that sport is leading the way. The picture quality is amazing and brings a wonderful experience of being so close to the action.
