BBC One Commissions Quiz Show The Code

LONDON: BBC One has ordered the new quiz show The Code (working title), which will be presented by Rogue Traders‘s Matt Allwright.

The Code sees contestants answer questions in order to crack a three-digit code that will open a safe and win them money. Allwright will be joined by quiz expert Lesley-Anne Brewis, who will provide extra facts and trivia.

The Code is a 25×45-minute BBC Daytime series commissioned by Dan McGolpin, controller of BBC Daytime, and Alex McLeod, BBC’s commissioning editor for BBC One. The program is produced by Sony Pictures Television’s Gogglebox Entertainment.

Allwright commented: “I’ve always loved a good quiz and The Code has the makings of something really exciting. It’s easy to play but one wrong answer means you are on your way home. I can’t wait to get cracking!”

McGolpin stated: “We’re thrilled that The Code will be on BBC One Daytime this spring. It’s a new quiz that sets a tough challenge with no margin for error, guaranteeing many moments of high drama in the afternoon.”

Adam Wood, Gogglebox Entertainment’s managing director and executive producer, added: “The Code is excitingly unpredictable. The safe could be opened after just three questions, but it might take three weeks…by which time the jackpot would be huge. That unpredictability should translate into dramatic television.”
