LONDON: Tanya Shaw has been promoted to managing director of Shine TV, while Tim Whitwell was elevated to the role of creative director.

Shaw is currently the creative director, having joined the company in 2014 from a role as commissioning editor for factual features and formats at the BBC. Whitwell has been serving as head of programming for the company, which he joined in 2012 from Optomen.

Both execs take up their new positions at the start of 2016. The promotions follow on Kelly Webb-Lamb's previous announcement of a planned departure at the end of 2015.

Richard Johnston, CEO of Endemol Shine UK, said: “Both Tanya and Tim have played a large part in the company’s success in recent years helping Shine TV become synonymous with brave, ambitious, high-profile factual programming through returning hits such as The Island With Bear Grylls and Hunted. Each has an innate understanding of the company’s DNA making them ideal choices to step up into their new roles.”

Shaw commented: “I’m very proud to be taking up the managing director mantle, and look forward to working with the exceptional team to build on what’s been achieved together in recent years.”

Whitwell added: “We’re up for it. We have great shows on air, many ideas brewing and I can’t wait to take these forward with the team.”
