NEW YORK: SPI International/FilmBox have signed an agreement with Disney that will see first-run movie content air on FilmBox channels in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

Among the titles snapped up by SPI from Disney are the hit animated movies Planes 2 and Big Hero 6. The package also includes Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella, which stars Helena Bonham Carter, Cate Blanchett and Richard Madden. In addition, the deal comprises two installments of the Tinker Bell franchise: Tinker Bell and the Pirate Fairy and Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast. SPI will broadcast these movies on FilmBox-brand premium movie channels in Poland, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and other CEE countries. The company has also secured SVOD rights for the titles included in the agreement.

ABC Studios' Emmy-nominated TV series American Crime is one of the titles from 2015 included in a content package recently acquired by SPI International's Kino Polska TV from Disney for the global pay-TV operator's FilmBox-brand movie channels and FilmBox Live VOD service in CEE.

"We are thrilled to work with Disney, the world's top provider of entertainment content," said Berk Uziyel, the executive director of Filmbox International and member of the management board at Kino Polska TV. "With the package filled with movie hits, popular TV series and iconic shows we've just acquired from Disney, FilmBox channels' subscribers across CEE will continue seeing new, remarkable content featuring unforgettable Disney characters, starring Hollywood's most popular actors and telling heartwarming stories for viewers of all ages."
