LONDON: Simon Cox, a former BBC Worldwide exec, has joined Endemol Shine International as its head of acquisitions.

Reporting to CEO Cathy Payne, Cox will be responsible for implementing the company’s global third-party scripted and non-scripted acquisition strategy, as well as managing the first-look deals that ESI holds with various indies. He will also oversee script-development deals. Cox will step into his new post later this month.

He joins ESI with 14 years’ experience in the TV industry, including nine years at BBC Worldwide, where he served as the head of business management, content and production. Most recently, Simon held the role of investment manager at Ingenious Media.

“Simon is an outstanding executive and Endemol Shine International are thrilled that he will be joining our team at such an exciting time for the company,” Payne said. “Both Endemol and Shine have a long and successful tradition of third-party representation across scripted and non-scripted, including key titles such as Home and Away, My Kitchen Rules, The Block, Hot in Cleveland, Younger, 24 Hours in the A&E, Death Comes to Pemberley and the upcoming Dark Matter and The Frankenstein Chronicles. Simon will spearhead our continued acquisitions growth, bringing with him a wealth of experience.”
