BERLIN/SANTA MONICA: Lionsgate and STUDIOCANAL are building on their relationship for the distribution of feature films in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Under the terms of the new output deal, STUDIOCANAL will launch an upcoming slate of films from the Lionsgate catalogue in these markets. This includes the next two installments of the global blockbuster Hunger Games franchise, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Parts 1 & 2; the action comedy Mortdecai, starring Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ewan McGregor; and the live-action Power Rangers franchise. Mockingjay 1 will mark the start of the new deal with its November 20 release in Germany.

Lionsgate's feature-film slate will also be the centerpiece of STUDIOCANAL Germany's new multiyear agreement with the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, under which ProSieben has licensed exclusive TV rights to Lionsgate feature films for its free-TV channels in Germany, Austria and German-speaking Switzerland.

"We're delighted to expand our partnership with Patrick, Rob, Andrew and the rest of the Lionsgate team that has brought us the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise and a steady pipeline of some of the most commercially exciting films in the world," said Rodolphe Buet, the CEO of STUDIOCANAL Germany. "We couldn't wish for better partners, and we expect Lionsgate's slate to have tremendous resonance for our audiences in the years to come."

"STUDIOCANAL was a major contributor to The Hunger Games franchise's evolution into a global phenomenon, and we're delighted to expand our productive long-term partnership with our friends at STUDIOCANAL and ProSieben," said Patrick Wachsberger and Rob Friedman, the co-chairs of Lionsgate's motion picture group. "Thanks to their efforts, Catching Fire more than doubled the box office performance of the first Hunger Games film in Germany, and we're proud to partner with them in continuing to grow the franchise and bringing our strongest theatrical slate ever to German audiences."
