LONDON: BBC Worldwide has licensed its first original comedy commission, Almost Royal, to E4 for a U.K. broadcast.

The comedy, produced for BBC America, is about two young British aristocrats on their first trip to the U.S. and follows as they interact with Americans. The series stars Ed Gamble and Amy Hoggart as fictional heirs to a large country estate in Norfolk, England. The pair head to America on a road trip for an unofficial royal tour of the U.S. The seven-episode show premiered in the U.S. on June 21.

Perry Simon, the general manager of BBC America, said: "I'm delighted that E4 will be introducing the Carlton siblings to the U.K. audience. Georgie and Poppy have taken America by storm, and now all of us at BBC America are thrilled to be sending them back."

Julie Swanston, executive producer at BBC Worldwide, said: "I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Georgie and Poppy and I'm sure E4 viewers will too!"
