Polish Programming to Be Celebrated at NATPE Europe

PRAGUE: NATPE Europe has planned a special "Celebration of Polish TV Programming" event to take place this Wednesday in Prague, announcing as the guest of honor the director and scriptwriter Agnieszka Holland.

On Wednesday at 12:30 p.m., the Cloud 9 Sky Bar and Lounge at the Hilton Prague Hotel will play host to the event, which will focus on the TV programming being produced in Poland. It marks the first in a planned annual salute to countries in the region and their local production capabilities.

Holland is the guest of honor. She has directed episodes of hit U.S. series such as The Wire, The Killing and Cold Case. She is also behind the recent HBO Europe film Burning Bush. Holland will be discussing the details of her new international TV projects at a special Q&A following the luncheon.

NATPE Europe's partners for the first-ever "Celebration of…" event are the Polish commercial broadcaster and producer TVN, Polish indie producer ATM Group and the film distribution company Monolith Films.

Rod Perth, the president and CEO of NATPE, said, “From a very restricted national service Poland’s television industry has grown and matured at an incredible rate and there are now many untapped opportunities for international buyers within this huge territory. We are delighted to be working alongside some of the best creatives in Europe to raise the profile of their programming and to help it receive the recognition it deserves on the world stage.”
