STOCKHOLM: FOX International Channels has reached a carriage deal with Sweden's leading cable platform, Com Hem, for its flagship general-entertainment channel FOX.

This summer, the network will be available to Com Hem's 1.8 million Swedish viewers. FOX joins National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild in the Swedish market. With the Swedish carriage, FOX is now available in 25 European markets. Across Europe and Africa FOX reaches 59.5 million subscribers.

The channel will continue with the "First on FOX" strategy employed by the brand globally, bringing U.S. series to international viewers shortly after the Stateside launch. In additional to having access to FOX's global acquisitions like Wayward Pines and original series, FOX in Sweden will also acquire selectively for the local market.

“Com Hem has the strongest channel lineup amongst Swedish TV suppliers today and we are constantly looking for new great content for our customers," said Jon James, COO at Com Hem. ”We welcome FOX to the Com Hem-family and are particularly excited to be the first operator in Sweden to bring this great new entertainment channel to all our customers and connected households."

Ase Ytreland, managing director of the Nordic region at FIC, added, "This bold move further strengthens the FIC presence in the Nordic region. As we have proven in Norway and Finland already, Swedish viewers will be offered the very best of the FOX experience, which we see as a natural step in our growth here. We expect Sweden to become one of our most important markets so we are already hiring many new staff to be located in the beautiful new FOX offices in central Stockholm. We are here to build a great new entertainment channel for the Swedish viewers.”
