LONDON: The Million Pound Drop is set to return to British screens this summer after getting the go-ahead for a new run from Channel 4.

The game show, produced by Endemol’s Remarkable Television, will air eight new hour-long episodes hosted by Davina McCall. To win, contestants must place a million pounds in real money over a trapdoor displaying the correct answer to a given question. The cash drops through the floor if they’ve picked the wrong door. The show’s new run will feature themed games that will see surprising pairs and the inclusion of four-player teams. Celebrities are also slated to play for their chosen charities.

“We’re thrilled to be back and, with more ways to play than ever before, we can’t wait to see who’s got what it takes to handle the pressure and beat the Drop,” said James Fox, Remarkable’s head of entertainment.

“It’s great to welcome back one of our most exhilarating shows, and once again we’re excited to add another twist to proceedings,” commented Justin Gorman, the head of entertainment for Channel 4.
