LONDON: Sky has strengthened its movies service through a new multiyear licensing agreement with Paramount Pictures, giving Sky Movies the first pay-TV window on titles such as Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

Sky Movies will be the first subscription service in the U.K. and Ireland to show new Paramount Pictures movies. Customers can enjoy new titles from Paramount about eight months after their cinema release. Once on Sky Movies, the films will be available exclusively on the service for more than a year.

The selection includes current titles such as Noah and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit as well as future releases such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers: Age of Extinction. There's also a wealth of titles coming from the Paramount Pictures' library, among them The Godfather trilogy, Forrest Gump, Top Gun and the Star Trek movies.

Ian Lewis, the director of Sky Movies and acquisitions, said: “We’re delighted to be extending our long-standing partnership with Paramount. This deal will give Sky Movies customers exclusive access to all Paramount Pictures’ new films, including the recent new hits Noah and Anchorman 2, as well as the ability to enjoy a wide range of classic titles. This is just the latest example of us giving Sky Movies customers the biggest and best movies to watch, how and when they want.”

“We are extremely pleased to extend our agreement with Sky so that its subscribers continue to enjoy Paramount’s exciting lineup of films for years to come,” added Hal Richardson, the president of home media distribution of Paramount Pictures.
