BBC Three Sets Entertainment Slate

LONDON: BBC Three is bolstering its entertainment offering with three new formats plus additional seasons of returning favorites, including The Revolution Will Be Televised.

Nick Helm, who stars in the recent BBC Three comedy Uncle, presents a new series called Nick Helm's Heavy Entertainment. The fast-paced variety show features stand-up, sketches, audience interaction, songs, poetry, jokes and more. After two successful pilot shows that aired earlier this year, BBC Three has commissioned a full series of Sexy Beasts. The dating show explores whether true love can blossom based on character alone, as the daters are disguised.

Tiger Aspect Productions has been tapped to produce a pilot episode of the comedy/entertainment/murder mystery hybrid Murder in Successville. The show is set in a fictional town full of celebrities, where there is an unfortunately high rate of homicide. The detective DCI Sleet each week enlists the help of a real celebrity guest sidekick to help solve the latest celebrity homicide. Comedian Tom Davis plays Sleet.

Jack Whitehall and his dad Michael return for two 45-minute Backchat specials, coinciding with Father's Day and the World Cup. The BAFTA-winning satirical comedy The Revolution Will Be Televised is returning to BBC Three. Heydon Prowse and Jolyon Rubinstein are back on board.

Zai Bennett, the controller of BBC Three, said: “BBC Three is committed to bringing the best in entertainment to its audiences so I’m delighted to announce this raft of exciting new and returning shows. BBC Three discovered the brilliant Nick Helm and Heavy Entertainment promises to be just as quirky and special as Uncle. Murder in Successville takes murder mystery to a whole new level and I can’t wait to see what happens in this weird and wonderful place. Backchat was a big hit for the channel last year so I’m delighted that Jack and Michael are returning with two specials and Sexy Beasts was a real talking point when the pilot aired so I have high hopes for the series. And what can I say about Heydon and Jolyon other than look out, they’re back!”
