Turkish Drama The End Travels to New Territories

STOCKHOLM: Eccho Rights has announced further deals on the scripted format The End, coming on the heels of a U.S. commission.

In Germany, Eccho Rights optioned The End to local producers UFA, which are developing the show for SAT.1. In France, Shine has taken an option to develop the series. Netflix also signed a non-exclusive agreement for its Swedish and U.K. services.

Michael Esser, producer at UFA, commented, "The End is a very interesting format because it is thrilling and melodramatic at the same time. This makes it a unique proposition for our audiences and UFA is looking forward to develop The End for SAT.1 in Germany."

Sébastien Charbit, creative producer at Shine, said, "We are very glad to present The End to French broadcasters because we believe this is a strong combination of drama and thriller that will seduce both broadcasters and audience."

Ruth McCance, head of fiction at Eccho Rights, said, "Turkish scripts work so well in a wide range of territories because they combine strong plots with deep characters whose emotional lives are drawn in compelling detail. We're very pleased that top creatives in the U.S., Russia and now France and Germany have recognized the potential to make a thrilling show for their own territories."
