LONDON: Myfanwy Moore is joining the BBC as controller of U.K. comedy production, after having served at ITV as commissioning editor of comedy.

Moore will lead the BBC In-House Comedy department. She will also oversee BBC Radio comedy. The hire marks a return to the BBC for Moore; she was the editor of new comedy for BBC Comedy from 1997 to 2005 (with one year out spent at UKPlay).

Moore commented: “I have loved my time at ITV, but as any comedy geek knows, running BBC In-House Comedy, the birthplace of so many well-loved and enduring shows that have shaped popular culture—is an opportunity that is hard to turn down. And I am a geek.”

Mark Freeland, the controller of fiction and entertainment at BBC Production, added: “Myfanwy has a fantastic, well deserved reputation and a passion and eye for comedy talent. I cannot wait to welcome her back to the BBC and see how she takes comedy to new and funny places."
