Sky Deutschland Scores UEFA Champions League Rights in Austria

VIENNA: Sky will be the exclusive TV home in Austria for all matches of the UEFA Champions League live and in HD until the year 2018.

Sky Deutschland already secured the exclusive German pay-TV rights for the European football matches a few days ago, and the rights agreement has now also been extended for Austria by another three years. The new agreement is valid beginning from the 2015-16 season and offers the Sky customers 146 encounters, including the UEFA Super Cup; 128 of these matches are exclusive on Sky.

Carsten Schmidt, the chief officer for sport, advertising sales and Internet at Sky Deutschland, said: “With the new agreement we confirm our position as clear number one in Austrian TV football. As the official TV partner in Austria we are glad to be able to offer the matches of all international stars as well as crowd pleasers such as David Alaba infuture. Our viewers can look forward to broadcasts in outstanding quality—not only on their TV sets at home, but also on the road on their iPad, iPhone, iPod touch as well as on the Internet and the Xbox 360."
