Sky Deutschland Holds On to UEFA Champions League Through 2018

UNTERFÖHRING: Sky Deutschland has secured the extension of broadcasting rights for the UEFA Champions League in Germany through 2018, and will show 146 matches live per season, 128 of them exclusively.

Sky Deutschland now has the rights for the 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. Sky secured the live broadcast and highlight rights across all platforms for the German market. This means that Sky customers will be able to watch the UEFA Champions League on their home TV set as well as through Sky Go on the web, the iPhone or iPad via 3G/4G or Wi-Fi and on the Xbox 360.

Carsten Schmidt, the chief officer for sports, advertising sales and the Internet at Sky, said: “The UEFA Champions League is a source of great drama and incredible stories. Memories of the final in Munich in 2012 and the German-German final in Wembley in 2013 continue to resonate with the football fans for months and years after the match.
