L.A. Screenings Buyer Feedback: TV 2’s John Ranelagh

OSLO: The Blacklist with James Spader and Hostages starring Toni Collette were among the shows that resonated with John Ranelagh, the head of acquisitions at Norway’s TV 2, at the recent L.A. Screenings.

Asked which shows he liked and found interesting, Ranelagh noted: "I liked Killer Women [Disney Media Distribution], perhaps because of the soundtrack, and found myself almost alone in this! Blacklist [Sony Pictures Television] was first-rate, with James Spader in superb form."

The Blacklist, Ranelagh added, is "widely regarded as one of the best shows of the year." Other series that created a buzz among buyers were Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (Disney Media Distribution), Hostages (Warner Bros.), and Crisis (Twentieth Century Fox). The most talked-about shows were Sleepy Hollow (Twentieth Century Fox), Betrayal (Disney Media Distribution) and Rake (Sony Pictures Television). "All three shows were quality (and expensive productions) and edgy for network fare: Sleepy with its headless horseman; Betrayal and Rake with [their] story lines."

Ranelagh listed Blacklist, Hostages, Crisis and Under the Dome as series he is interested in. He is particularly on the lookout for films and series that can air in daytime, as "prime time is now 100-percent Norwegian."
