ITV Gives Tipping Point a Prime-Time Slot

LONDON: The ITV Daytime quiz show Tipping Point is headed to prime-time with a commission for a series of celebrity specials called Tipping Point Lucky Stars.

Produced by RDF Television, the series is about to launch in its third run in daytime. A 12×1-hour series is being produced for an early evening weekend slot as well. Tipping Point is set around a machine filled with counters worth thousands of pounds. Players have to answer questions to win a turn on the machine. The player with the least amount of money at the end is eliminated.

The new prime-time version will see the value of the counters double, to £100, and the jackpot will rise to £20,000. It will also see four celebrities competing in each show. The money from the winner will be donated to the charity of their choice.

Kate Madigan, ITV’s entertainment commissioner, said: “I am delighted Tipping Point Lucky Stars is following Celebrity Chase on the path to prime time. Its mix of gripping gameplay together with a playful mix of celebrities promises to be a great addition to the weekend schedule.”

Peter Usher, the head of entertainment at RDF Television, added: “We’re thrilled to have the opportunity of taking the show into prime time and look forward to seeing celebrities get competitive not just with each other but also the extraordinary Tipping Point machine.”
