Bertelsmann Considers Reducing RTL Group Shares

LUXEMBOURG: The board of directors at RTL Group has learned that Bertelsmann is considering a reduction of its shareholdings in the outfit, though would still continue to hold a qualified majority.

Bertelsmann currently holds 92.3 percent of the voting rights in RTL Group. Through a capital market transaction, Bertelsmann would reduce its shareholdings to approximately 75 percent.

RTL Group says it will review options to increase the efficiency of its capital structure, including potential payment of an extraordinary dividend.
