BSkyB’s Sophie Turner Laing to Deliver MIPTV 2013 Keynote

PARIS: Sophie Turner Laing, the managing director of entertainment, news and broadcast services at BSkyB, is on board to open the Media Mastermind keynote lineup at MIPTV 2013, which will be the 50th edition of the market.

Laing is responsible for the Sky bouquet of entertainment and news channels as well as broadcast operations, network planning and the Sky Creative Agency. Her keynote will lead off the Media Mastermind sessions at the 50th edition of MIPTV, taking place April 8 to 11 in Cannes.

“We’re delighted to welcome Sophie Turner Laing, a major industry-leading personality, as the first keynote speaker at the 50th anniversary of MIPTV, especially since she celebrates her 30th MIPTV attendance this year,” said Laurine Garaude, the director of Reed MIDEM’s television division. “On this anniversary year, MIPTV continues to expand and embraces the major developments and evolution the industry is currently experiencing. While remaining the ultimate marketplace for sourcing and selling fresh international content, MIPTV is also the forum to stimulate content development, launch co-productions, and look at how new technologies are changing the way content is created, delivered and extended.”

“I am very pleased to have been asked to address this year’s MIPTV,” added Laing. “Great content sits at the very heart of any successful entertainment business and MIPTV remains the world’s most important showcase for that content. I look forward to joining the best in the industry to debate what makes us all tick.”
