Netflix Completes Scandinavian Rollout

LOS GATOS: Netflix makes its official debut today in Finland, following launches earlier this week in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

Throughout Scandinavia, 10 million broadband TV households can now subscribe to the service to instantly access a selection of Hollywood, local and global TV programming as well as movies. At launch, Netflix is offering content from partners such as Warner Bros., Twentieth Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company, Sony Pictures Entertainment, CBS Studios, ITV Studios Global Entertainment, Shine International, Nordisk Film Distribution and Svensk Filmindustri, among others.

The service has been fully localized, offering subtitles for foreign-language films and shows and dubbing for most kids’ titles.

"We’ve received a very warm welcome throughout the Nordics and are thrilled by the excitement we have seen for Netflix in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland," said Reed Hastings, Netflix’s co-founder and CEO. "Initial signups exceeded our expectations; the Nordic people have definitely shown that they are ready for the future of television."
