Warner Bros. Signs Exclusive Movie Pact with Canal+ Group

CANNES: The Canal+ Group has reached an exclusive output agreement for the pay-TV rights to first-run movies and library films from the Warner Bros. catalogue. 

The deal was stuck between Canal+ Group and Warner Bros. Entertainment France. Starting in September 2013, Canal+ pay-TV subscribers can watch the latest productions from the studio on a number of devices, including connected TVs and smartphones. The agreement covers Canal+, Cine+, Comédie+ and Jimmy as well as the related catch-up services. 

Rodolphe Belmer, the executive VP of content for the Canal+ Group, said: "Canal+ Group is particularly proud once again to strike a partnership with Warner Bros. Canal+ subscribers, and all of our pay-TV channels, will have access to movies from one of the most prestigious American studios. This agreement illustrates our desire to offer the most attractive movie offer on TV." 

Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, the president of Warner Bros. International Television, added: "Canal+ has always had a deep appreciation for the films created by Warner Bros. and for our long historic tradition. We are pleased to have our films return to Canal+ in the first pay window and be available to their subscribers in 2013."

Caroline Lang, the senior VP and managing director for France at Warner Bros. International Television, commented: "We are extremely pleased with this agreement with the Canal+ Group, which will be able to broadcast all of our upcoming movies to its subscribers on an exclusive basis on its pay-TV channels."
