MTG Takes Full Ownership of TV 2 Sport

STOCKHOLM: Modern Times Group (MTG) has acquired the remaining shares of its Danish joint venture TV 2 Sport from TV 2 DANMARK. 

The cash consideration is undisclosed. The deal does include the transfer of the exclusive Danish broadcasting rights to the European Handball Championships for 2016 and 2018. 

TV 2 Sport was launched in April 2007 as a 50-50 JV between MTG and TV 2. It broadcasts the premium sports channel TV 2 Sport, TV 2 Sport HD and the TV 2 Sport Premiere League-dedicated Barclays Premier League channel. 

The deal is subject to regulatory approval by the Danish Competition Authority.
