TF1 Ad Revenues Down 6 Percent in First Half

PARIS: Advertising revenues for TF1’s flagship channel dropped by 5.9 percent to 713.2 million euros in the first half, while net profit fell by 21.2 percent to 93.5 million euros.

Total revenues for the group in the period were down 1.8 percent to 1.3 billion euros, with other activities—outside of advertising on the main TF1 channel—contributing 588 million euros, a 13.1-percent increase. Total advertising revenues for the group were relatively stable at 896.8 million euros.

By segment, French broadcasting reported flat revenues of 1.05 billion euros, while audiovisual rights revenues rose 28.7 percent to 64.5 million euros and international broadcasting contributed 191.3 million euros, a 10.1-percent gain.

For 2012, TF1 said it "is responding to the difficult economic conditions and the changing competitive landscape by accelerating its adaptation, via ongoing cost-cutting and the launch of a review of processes and organizational structures." It is expecting flat revenues for 2012.
