Mediaset & Sky Italia to Share Football Rights

MILAN, July 9: Mediaset and Sky Italia have negotiated a deal to share the rights to provide Champions League and Europa League football coverage to their pay-TV subscribers.


Both of the pay-TV operators now hold the rights to offer coverage of matches featuring the Italian teams in the two tournaments over the next two seasons. Mediaset Premium will air all the matches of both competitions for the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons. The Italia 1 channel will feature the best Italian match from the Champions League on Wednesdays and the best of match of the Europa League on Thursdays. All UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches are now available on Sky, as well as Sky HD and on Sky Go. Sky subscribers can watch Champions League matches in 3D as well. The deal for Sky to air Champions League matches in HD is an exclusive agreement.
