Harald Schmidt to Lead Late Show on Sky in Germany

UNTERFÖHRING: The late night presenter Harald Schmidt is headed to Sky Atlantic HD and Sky Hits HD, which will feature new episodes of The Harald Schmidt Show exclusively in Germany starting this fall.

Airing from Tuesday to Thursday as early as 10:15 p.m., the show will feature Schmidt’s take on current events. His stand up will also be part of the program. Kogel & Schmidt continue to produce the show. The daily late night talk show will also be available on Sky Go and Sky Anytime.

Kogel said: “My talks with Sky and our common vision for program quality have led to a timely result. With this, we can start our new show right after the planned summer break at the opening of the new Bundesliga season. As desired by the fans, we will air the original broadcast one hour earlier.”

Schmidt added: "Late Night with Sky is like heaven on earth for me."

Gary Davey, the executive VP of programming at Sky Germany, commented: "This is exciting news for us. With Harald Schmidt, we have attracted one of Germany’s best presenters to join us at Sky. Not only are we once more setting new standards in terms of quality like with Sky Atlantic HD, but we also offer our customers the exclusive one and only late night show on German television."

Markus Ammon, the deputy senior VP of programming, said: “As a long-term Harald Schmidt fan I am particularly glad about this high-quality addition to our team. With his polarizing character, Harald Schmidt will further emphasize the unique position of Sky as opposed to the conventional TV offering.”
