LONDON: ALL3MEDIA is planning to sell its programs direct to consumers through Samsung and LG Smart TVs.

Starting this month, Samsung Smart TVs will feature an ALL3MEDIA app. The offering hits LG Smart TVs in April. Both services will initially launch in the U.K., with the U.S. to follow shortly thereafter. The company is offering more than 230 hours of programming, including shows such as Skins, The Only Way Is Essex, Midsomer Murders and Peep Show on a pay-per-view basis via the app. Additional series from ALL3MEDIA’s roster of production companies will be made available over time. ALL3MEDIA also plans to launch the service on further platforms and devices throughout the year.

Andy Taylor, the commercial director of ALL3MEDIA, said: “Our primary business will continue to be licensing our programs to international broadcasters and video on demand partners such as Netflix, Hulu and LOVEFiLM. The new ALL3MEDIA app, however, will allow us to experiment with different payment models, to continue to get closer to our viewers and to experiment offering our content in a range of territories. It is estimated that there will be 500 million connected TVs in the world in 2015 so now seems like a good time to experiment and learn about consumer behavior.”
