LONDON: Syfy has acquired the exclusive U.K. rights for the supernatural comedy series Todd & the Book of Pure Evil in a deal with Entertainment One (eOne).

The 13-part first season debuted on Canada’s SPACE channel in 2010, and began its second season in October 2011. Syfy has the rights to both series, comprising 26 episodes.

The series, which was created by Craig David Wallace, Charles Picco and Anthony Leo, follows the story of a teenager who unleashes the powers of darkness throughout his high school when he uncovers a powerful and demonic book. It is co-produced by Aircraft Pictures, Corvid Pictures and Frantic Films, and is developed in association with SPACE. The series stars Alex House (Dark Oracle), Maggie Castle (The Time Traveller’s Wife), Bill Turnbull (Being Erica), Melanie Leishman (House Party), Chris Leavins (Cute with Chris) and Jason Mewes (Jay and Silent Bob).

Adam Collings, the channel director of Syfy U.K., said, “Todd & The Book of Pure Evil is another great example of the sort of content we want to discover for our viewers. Combining the classic conventions of high school drama with a healthy dose of absurd supernatural horror, it’s an unapologetically bizarre comedy delivered with plenty of edge, to say nothing of flesh-eating rock zombies, giant babies and other terrifying but hilarious phenomena.”
