Watch Re-Commissions Rollercoaster-Inspired Game Show

LONDON: The UKTV channel Watch has commissioned Lion Television to produce season three of Scream If You Know the Answer!, now titled Scream Extreme: USA after having moved the location of the game show to the U.S.

Watch has partnered with The Travel Channel in the U.S. to share location, crew and equipment costs, while Lion Television films for each broadcaster. Each show features two contestants who team up with a celebrity to compete in challenges on some of America’s most terrifying rollercoasters. The team with the highest score plays for a cash prize of up to £5000. It will be hosted by singer Duncan James and feature commentary from Radio 1’s Colin Murray.

Steve Hornsey, the general manager at Watch, said, “Watch aspires to deliver out of the ordinary entertainment and we’ve really upped the ante in this series with bigger, scarier and seriously stomach-churning rides. The combination of U.S. and U.K. celebrities, bravely attempting to answer questions on rides that deliver forces of up to 5Gs, will give Watch an exclusive, stand out show for this year’s Q2 schedule.”

Karoline Copping, the commissioning editor of entertainment at UKTV, added, “We’re pitching U.K. against the U.S. to find out who has the stomach to conquer some of the scariest rides the U.S. has to offer. In the U.K. corner it’s Sheridan Smith, Strictly’s Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood against U.S. heavyweights Coolio, Stephen Baldwin, Shannen Doherty, of original 90210 fame, and recent Dancing on Ice contestant and ’80s icon Corey Feldman. The rollercoasters are higher, faster and longer and the games more dastardly.”
