LONDON: The Australian production house Quail Television has made Jay Kandola, who previously led acquisitions for ITV, Channel 5 and Channel 4 in the U.K., its European manager, a newly created position in which she will serve on a consultancy basis.

Kandola, appointed to spearhead Quail’s growth into the U.K. and Europe, has previously led acquisitions as a director for ITV, Channel 5 and Channel 4 in the U.K. Kandola has already pre-sold a Quail TV telemovie and docudrama hybrid project to a U.K. broadcaster and is taking a pivotal role in the re-versioning of Quail’s political sitcom At Home With Julia for U.K. and European audiences.

Greg Quail, the executive producer and founder at Quail Television, said: “Jay’s appointment is a firm signal of our intention to make a ‘step change’ in our plans for growth in the U.K. and Europe. We’re ready to take our business to the next level and Jay’s wealth of expert knowledge, business acumen and editorial experience make her the ideal person to lead this charge. Indeed, even at this early stage, this new relationship is already bearing fruit.

Kandola added, "I’m very excited to be adding Quail to my consultancy portfolio at this critical stage in their development. Their formats have vast potential for success in Europe. I look forward to exploiting each one to its fullest and delivering results for this forward-thinking business. Through my consultancy for pay-broadcaster FOXTEL, I am very familiar with Australian producers and believe Quail Television is one of the most exciting independents operating out of Australia right now.”
