GENEVA: Members of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) such as Austria’s ORF, DR in Denmark and and ARD and ZDF in Germany are teaming up to help bring Internet-connect TV into European homes in 2012.

More than 20 EBU members—including RTBF in Belgium, YLE in Finland, Czech TV, RAI in Italy and TVP in Poland—are aligning to push the European rollout of the Hybrid TV technology for next year. The group plans to exchange best practices and support one another to drive a fast, comprehensive rollout of connected-TV services by EBU members in 2012.

The EBU will host a Creative Content Workshop on February 3, 2012 to enable all EBU Members to share experiences and ideas for hybrid applications. A new "interactive group" of creative experts from EBU member organizations will oversee the exchange of best practice and innovation in the hybrid arena.
