ZDFneo Boards Swedish Suspense Thriller

Germany’s ZDFneo has boarded the upcoming Swedish suspense thriller The Fighter in a co-production deal brokered by Dynamic Television.

From Kärnfilm and SVT, the series centers on a determined boxer who is willing to do anything to fight for the World Championship title. When an investigator suspects her of cheating, however, her future, health, son and dream are at stake.

The Fight is slated to premiere on SVT in Sweden on April 25 and in winter 2022-23 in Germany under the title Lea: The Fighter. Madeleine Martin (Breaking Surface, Riverside) stars in the lead role.

The series is based on an original idea by Alexandra-Therese Keining, who is also series author alongside screenwriters Henrik Engström and Jörgen Bergmark. Series producers are Petra Jönsson and Karina Stääv Ardelius from Kärnfilm. Andrea Östlund is head/conceptualizing director, while Fredrik Edfeldt is episode director.
