ZDF Enterprises has licensed the SVOD rights for the drama series Wild District, Ku’damm 56 and Ku’damm 59 to the streaming platform U-NEXT in Japan.

Wild District is produced by Dynamo (The Hidden Face, Undertow) in co-production with ZDF Enterprises. Created by Cristian Conti and directed by Javier Fuentes-León and Carlos Moreno, the series stars Juan Pablo Raba (Narcos, SIX) as a man who escapes the Colombian armed conflict only to find himself facing a private war on two fronts.

The family saga Ku’damm 56 and its sequel Ku’damm 59 present a family story about the awakening of young people in the 1950s. Ku’damm was commissioned by German Pubcaster ZDF and produced by UFA Fiction with producers Nico Hofmann and Benjamin Benedict (Generation War, Deutschland 83, Deutschland 89) at the helm.

Jeffrey Shimamoto, head of international business development for U-NEXT, said: “ZDF Enterprises’ vision for powerful storytelling is unmatched. We are extremely grateful to be able to work with such a strong partner in Germany to bring some of the best global content to U-NEXT as we continue our dominance in the international scripted series genre in Japan.”

Robert Franke, VP of ZDFE.drama for ZDF Enterprises, added: “We are thrilled to have these two great shows on the fastest-growing streaming platform in Japan. It is an honor to be working with U-NEXT and we are looking forward to our future cooperation.”
