The Hunt to Make U.S. Debut on Viaplay

The Dutch-language crime drama The Hunt is set to bow in the U.S. on Viaplay on March 27.

Based on a real story, the six-episode series begins in the spring of 1999, when a 16-year-old girl last seen bicycling home late at night after an argument with her boyfriend is found raped and murdered between a small village and a refugee center. Her murder tears apart entire families and a whole community as accusations fly.

The crime remained unsolved for 13 years until two main detectives initiated a large-scale DNA investigation, which finally broke the case open.

Each episode of the series is presented from a different character’s perspective, exploring the impact of the murder on their lives.

The cast features Hans Kesting (Sleepers, Nobody in the City), Abke Haring (Splendid Isolation), Mara van Vlijmen (Beatrix, Orange Under Fire), Richelle Plantina (Swanenburg), Gijs Blom (The Letter for the King), Aus Greidanus Jr. (A Beautiful Imperfection), Imanuelle Grives (Only Decent People), Eefje Paddenburg and Jack Wouterse.

The Hunt is directed by Michiel van Erp (Niemand in de stad, Ramses) and written by Willem Bosch (The Spectacular, Van God Los, Penoza). It is produced by Pieter Kuijpers (Riphagen, Van God Los, TBS) at Pupkin Productions for Viaplay.
