The Good Doctor Heads to Japan

WOWOW has picked up the exclusive Japanese broadcast rights for the hit ABC drama The Good Doctor.

Thanks to the deal with Sony Pictures Television, WOWOW will launch the series in Japan in April. The American medical drama is based on the 2013 South Korean series of the same name.

The Good Doctor stars Freddie Highmore as Shaun Murphy, a young autistic surgeon who has savant syndrome and relocates from a quiet country life to join the surgical unit at the prestigious San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital. Highmore recently earned a Golden Globe nomination for best actor in a drama series for the role.
