ABC has greenlit an embedded pilot episode of The Good Doctor called The Good Lawyer, starring Kennedy McMann (Nancy Drew) and Felicity Huffman (American Crime).

Set to air March 6, the episode sees Dr. Shaun Murphy seek legal representation and put his faith in promising young lawyer Joni DeGroot (McMann), who has OCD. While her symptoms take a toll on her personal and professional life, her attention to detail allows her to see cases through a different lens.

Huffman stars as Janet Stewart, a highly regarded attorney and partner at the law firm. She has represented Dr. Aaron Glassman in several legal matters, so he turns to her to represent Murphy. Murphy declares that he wants DeGroot to represent him, and Stewart is forced to let her take the lead.

The Good Lawyer episode is written by co-showrunners David Shore and Liz Friedman and directed by Ruben Fleischer. Executive producers are Shore, Friedman, Daniel Dae Kim, Erin Gunn, Thomas L. Moran, David Hoselton, Peter Blake, Jessica Grasl, Garrett Lerner, Mike Listo, Freddie Highmore, Shawn Williamson, David Kim and Sebastian Lee.

The Good Doctor is produced by Sony Pictures Television and ABC Signature.
