SOMOS Distribution is set to attend Content Americas, running from January 20 to 23, with an offering of Turkish dramas and Latin American family series, telenovelas and comedy programs.
The lineup of Turkish dramas includes That Girl, Bahar, Love for Rent, Ruthless City and Love & Hope, among others. From its sister company SOMOS Productions, it will be presenting Lucy es el 7 and Gina Yei, as well as Súbete a mi Moto and Hasta que Te Conocí.
That Girl tells the story of Zeynep, who dreams of leaving her miserable life behind and becoming a social media phenomenon. In Bahar, the titular character overhears on the phone that her father’s fiancée is going to kill him. Bahar experiences a near-fatal accident and loses her memory and ends up falling in love with Demir, who her stepmother is also in love with, thus deeply intertwining their lives. Love for Rent, meanwhile, follows Defne, whose brother gets into debt and is held captive.
SOMOS Productions’ Lucy es el 7 tells the story of Lucy, who is in love with Anthony. Anthony always dreamed of being a famous singer and forming the first “K-pop” group, which must have seven boys. Anthony finds five but needs one more. Lucy transforms into a handsome boy to be the seventh member of the group and get closer to Anthony. In Gina Yei, the titular character wins a scholarship to the Caribbean Music Institute on the island of Puerto Encantado, considered the best place to study Latin music and the cradle of successful reggaeton.
Other content available in SOMOS Distribution’s catalog includes La Dama de Rosa, Mi Gorda Bella, El Desprecio, La Mujer de Judas and Mis Tres Hermanas, as well as the humor shorts from Enchufe.
“We have strived to present a balanced and attractive offering at Content Americas, with high-quality Turkish dramas and attractive family series and telenovelas, in addition to comedy content and other products from our catalog, which is quite extensive in movies and varieties,” said Francisco Villanueva, VP and COO of SOMOS Distribution. “We are confident that our clients will find what they need to expand their appeal among audiences and different time slots in this new entertainment environment.”
