Shooting Wraps on Russian Treatment of The Good Wife

Filming on the Russian adaptation of The Good Wife has finished in Moscow, with 20 episodes set to launch on NTV.

Alexandra Ursulyak and Alexander Domogarov star in the Russian version. The local series is produced by Lean-M, which is behind such successful adaptations as The Voronins, based on Everybody Loves Raymond.

Domogarov commented: “I take a principled stand against watching the original series. To me, it’s like watching again some iconic movie, when I’m offered the main part in its makeover. This is what adaptation to our reality is. Their story is adapted to our mentality, our values and culture. My character is a many-sided man. This is probably his best asset, although for me it’s the hardest part, and also what attracts me most about him. Of course, it’s easy to see that the man is going through a hard period in his life. He is weak and strong, helpless, but at the same time wise and experienced—this mix is particularly interesting.”

The original show was created by CBS Television Studios, Scott Free Productions and King Size Productions. CBS Studios International is the distributor of the original show and its adaptations.
