ADD Content and Blue Ant Studios have entered into a scripted format development deal for a North American remake of the Israeli drama The First Family.

Originally commissioned and aired by Israel’s HOT, the series explores the household and personal relations surrounding the country’s most prominent politician. The two companies will co-develop and co-produce a local version of the original Israeli series co-created by Shachar Magan (Possessions) and Noa Rotman, granddaughter of former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

“We’re excited to be working with ADD Content and HOT to adapt this wonderful property,” said Eva Miller, VP of scripted development at Blue Ant Studios. “The First Family comes with all the juicy inter-family politics that make for great drama, while also offering a chance to explore class and the complicated relationship between private and public identities that resonates so deeply with today’s society.”

Hadas Mozes Lichtenstein, founder and head of international at ADD Content, said: “With familial dramas enjoying international popularity, The First Family is ripe for a local reimagining. We have incredibly creative and talented partners in Blue Ant Studios who share our ambition for this dynamic, intensely gripping show.”

Nadav Hanin, VP of content and innovation at HOT, added: “HOT proves once again that quality content knows no boundaries and takes another step forward in its quest to put Israeli content at the forefront of the global market. We are extremely excited to collaborate with Blue Ant Studios on The First Family.”
