FOX Turkey is launching Taçsız Prenses, the Turkish version of Nippon TV’s hit series Without Family.

The local version is produced by MF Yapim, which is also behind the Turkish treatment of The Good Doctor. The title Taçsız Prenses means “crownless princess” in Turkish.

Without Family was a hit in Japan when it aired on Nippon TV and went on to become a feature film grossing over 1 billion yen, followed by a successful second season on Nippon TV. The format was also adapted into games, novels and comic books.

The Turkish version marks the first time the title has been adapted as a scripted format.

Keisuke Miyata, head of sales of international business development for Nippon TV, said: “This impactful story of one girl’s life of overcoming difficulties in an unreasonable environment would be sympathetic for viewers living in today’s uncertain and unstable times. Her way of life makes us believe in the light of hope and small miracles, no matter how cruel the real world is, and I think her genuine love for her mother, who is hospitalized with a terminal illness, is also relatable in the world. It is a heart-wrenching and tear-jerking story, and I have high expectations that it would move Turkish viewers again like Mother and Woman -My Life for My Children-.”

Faruk Bayhan, chairman of the board of MF Yapim, added: “Since MF Yapim has been launched, we have been working with Nippon TV very intensively and successfully. We believe we will achieve the same success with Without Family. We hope to continue our collaboration with Nippon TV in many years to come.”
