STOCKHOLM: MTG’s Nordic video streaming service Viaplay has a new original thriller coming to its lineup in spring 2018: Alex.

The six-part series stars top Nordic actors Dragomir Mrsic (Edge of Tomorrow) and Rakel Wärmländer (Gåsmamman). Nicklas Wikström Nicastro (A Man Called Ove) will produce Alex for SF Studios, with Nevision as co-producer.

Niklas Rockström (Before We Die) and Michael Hjorth (Sebastian Bergman) serve as writers on the series, which is about a hardened and corrupt cop who decides to leave the underworld behind but his dark connections keep pulling him back.

Mrsic said: “It’s so exciting to create a raw and tough thriller series that goes further than what we usually get to see. Alex is set in a brutal criminal environment that I’ve experienced first-hand, and that viewers can now experience without compromises.”

Jakob Mejlhede, MTG’s executive VP and head of programming and content development, added: “Just reading the synopsis gets my heart pumping—so just imagine what Alex will be like to watch. This is a truly nail-biting suspense thriller with strong, complex characters, and we see amazing international potential in this production.”
