Endemol Shine Iberia’s Diagonal is launching a new original series for the Atresmedia SVOD platform ATRESplayer Premium, titled Luimela.

Luimela is a spin-off series from the long-running TV hit Love is Forever. It will launch as six short-form episodes, each eight to ten minutes in length. Love is Forever touched on the story of Luisita and Amelia, a gay couple in 1977. This new short-form series will tell the story of the same couple but living in the present day.

Love is Forever is a daily soap from Diagonal that airs Monday to Friday on Antena 3, where it has been the number one afternoon scripted daily series for the past eight seasons.

Jordi Frades, creative producer and content director at Diagonal TV, said: “Love is Forever is the first and original soap in Spain and the characters have captured the hearts of the audience here. Producing this short-form series for Atresmedia’s SVOD platform ATRESplayer Premium allows us to further develop the characters and see how they would have progressed if living in 2020. This spin-off series allows us to not only highlight LGBTQ visibility and feminism but also the way social media affects relationships in this day and age.”
