Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) is set to roll out the drama series Kin as its next Viaplay original.

The eight-episode series centers on the lives of a fictional Dublin family that is embroiled in a gangland war, speaking to the enduring and unbreakable bonds of blood and family. Set to premiere on NENT Group’s Viaplay streaming service in 2021, Kin stars Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire), Clare Dunne (Herself), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones) and Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander).

Produced by BRON Studios and Headline Pictures, in association with RTÉ, NENT Group and Creative Wealth Media with support from Screen Ireland and the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI), Kin is currently filming in Ireland. The series is written by author Peter McKenna.

Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group’s chief content officer, said: “This premium production contains everything a high-quality drama should: a well-written script, a story that captures grief, love, pain and the sacred bond between humans, presented by an extremely talented team both in front of and behind the camera. Kin will be a great addition to our strong lineup of international originals this year and I can’t wait until we can release it to our consumers.”
