The new seven-part thriller Hijack, starring and executive produced by Idris Elba (Luther), is slated to make its global debut on Apple TV+ on June 28.

Told in real time, the series follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight while authorities on the ground scramble for answers and ways to prevent disaster.

Elba stars as an accomplished negotiator who must step up and use all his skills to save the lives of the passengers.

Other cast members are Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife, Snowpiercer, Blindspot), Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimee Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel and Ben Miles.

Created by George Kay (Lupin, Criminal) and Jim Field Smith (Criminal, Truth Seekers), who also wrote and lead directed the series, respectively, Hijack was produced by 60Forty Films and Kay and Field Smith’s own production company Idiotlamp Productions. It is also the first series to come out of Elba’s first-look deal with Apple TV+ and his Green Door Pictures.

The first two episodes will land on Apple TV+ on June 28, with others to follow each week.
