Entertainment One (eOne) has secured the international distribution rights for the new drama Family Law, which follows lawyer and recovering alcoholic Abigail Bianchi as she struggles to put her career and family back together after hitting rock bottom.

Set in Vancouver, the drama is from Canadian network Global Television and produced by SEVEN24 Films and Lark Productions. Casting on the series is underway.

eOne will handle distribution for the series outside of Canada.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Family Law to the international market,” said Noel Hedges, eOne’s executive VP of acquisitions, international distribution. “This is a dynamic, warm, touching and impactful series about the inside workings of family relationships, anchored around a flawed but highly intelligent female lawyer. We are looking forward to introducing the show to buyers later on this year.”

“In this moment in time, when audiences need an antidote to the nightly news, Family Law will provide an emotionally engaging escape, with compelling characters and the right balance of heart and humor,” said Jordy Randall, executive producer. “We look forward to eOne introducing it to the global marketplace.”
