Eccho Rights has picked up The Promise, a Turkish drama from producer Karamel Yapim.

The series debuted on Kanal 7 last week, scoring more than double that of the broadcaster’s average audience. The show follows a young couple in love, both of whom have taken a vow: Reyhan promises to take care of the family of an old friend who is diagnosed with a terminal illness, and her partner promises to teach his dying father a lesson by sabotaging his arranged marriage to Reyhan.

“We gave a preview of The Promise at NATPE, and already received a really enthusiastic response from buyers and we look forward to sharing more moving towards MIPTV,” said Fredrik af Malmborg, managing director at Eccho Rights. “International broadcasters have seen the success of daily series from Turkey such as Prisoner of Love and Elif, and are looking for more reliable, quality content that keeps viewers hooked day after day.”
