Apple TV+ is nearing a series order for Sinking Spring, a TV adaptation of Dennis Tafoya’s Dope Thief, from Peter Craig (The Batman, The Town, Top Gun: Maverick).

The series follows long-time Philadelphia friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob an unknown house in the countryside. This marks the first venture into television development for Craig, who will write and executive produce all eight episodes.

Ridley Scott is attached as director, and Brian Tyree Henry (Causeway, Atlanta, Bullet Train) is set to star.

Executive producers are Scott, David W. Zucker, Jordan Sheehan and Clayton Krueger for Scott Free Productions, which is producing the series, and Henry. Tafoya will serve as consulting producer.

The series expands Apple’s partnership with Scott Free Productions, which has a first-look deal for TV projects with Apple TV+.
