The new CTV Original drama Transplant, produced by Sphère Média Plus (19-2), is slated to premiere this week.

Shot in Montréal and set in Toronto, Transplant centers on Dr. Bashir “Bash” Hamed (Hamza Haq, The Indian Detective), a Syrian doctor who fled his country with his younger sister Amira to build a new life in Canada. The series is slated to air on Wednesdays at 9 p.m., beginning February 26, on CTV. It will also air in French, with Transplanté premiering the same day at 10 p.m. on VRAK.

In addition to Haq, Transplant stars Laurence Leboeuf (19-2) as Dr. Magalie “Mags” Leblanc and John Hannah (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Four Weddings and a Funeral) as Dr. Jed Bishop, as well as Jim Watson, Ayisha Issa, Sirena Gulamgaus, Torri Higginson, Linda E. Smith, Grace Lynn Kung and Sugith Varughese.

Created and written by Joseph Kay, Transplant is produced with the participation of the Canada Media Fund and the Bell Fund. Sphère Média Plus made the series in association with NBCUniversal International Studios, which is also handling global distribution.

Mike Cosentino, president of content and programming at Bell Media, said: “A timely and compelling drama with Bash at its core, Transplant examines universal storylines of struggle, compassion and sacrifice. This incredible series is sure to resonate with viewers across the country, and is positioned for success at the heart of CTV’s Wednesday night primetime lineup.”
