MUNICH: Red Arrow International has clinched a deal for the new genre drama Cleverman in the U.K., where the series will be delivered on BBC Three.

The deal marks the BBC’s first drama acquisition for BBC Three since it became an online-only service in February. The series will debut to British audiences later this year, following its world premiere on SundanceTV in the U.S. on June 1 and on ABC and ABC iview in Australia on June 2.

Henrik Pabst, the managing director of Red Arrow International, said: “We are delighted that the BBC is the broadcaster to bring Cleverman to U.K. viewers. Cleverman is one of the biggest and most ambitious shows to come out of Australia, and speaks to a growing world audience unafraid of adventurous TV.”

Sue Deeks, the head of program acquisition at the BBC, said: “Cleverman is an incredibly original and ambitious drama which is gripping from the very start—we are very excited to bring it to BBC Three viewers.”
