Cineflix Rights has acquired the exclusive global distribution rights to the new Canadian drama C’est comme ça que je t’aime (Happily Married).

The latest series from writer François Létourneau and director Jean-François Rivard (Les Invincibles, Série Noire), Happily Married recounts the “almost true” 1970s story of the Sainte Foy Killers. The ten-part series revolves around two couples in crisis, who make a series of drastic decisions and ultimately become the most infamous quartet of criminals in Quebec history.

Happily Married stars Létourneau, Patrice Robitaille (Les Invincibles, Victor Lessard), Marilyn Castonguay (Plan B, Matthias et Maxime), Karine Gonthier-Hydman (Like-moi!, Les Simone) and Sophie Desmarais (The Forbidden Room, Sarah Prefers to Run). From Montreal-based Productions Casablanca, the series is due to premiere on Radio-Canada Télé and Tou.Tv Extra in spring 2020.

Julien Leroux, senior VP of global scripted co-productions at Cineflix Media, said: “We’re immensely proud to be partnering with François Létourneau, Jean-François Rivard and the teams at Casablanca and Radio-Canada. Happily Married is such a unique series with a fascinating mix between a crime series, a relationship drama and a dark comedy. We’re thrilled to be adding it to our growing scripted portfolio and can’t wait to introduce the show to the international market.”

Joanne Forgues, producer/executive producer, added: “Happily Married continues our work with this incredible team of creators. After Les Invincibles and then Série Noire, we are proud that their latest creation has been selected by Content London.”

Dany Meloul, general manager for television at Radio-Canada, commented: “Happily Married is a very distinctive series and we are pleased that it will have the opportunity to be showcased to audiences around the world. The Radio-Canada Distribution, Casablanca and Cineflix teams have worked in close collaboration to make this agreement happen.’’
